A little bit of peace and quiet (even if it is 5 AM LOL) ...

It is just amazing how fast time flies when these kids are here! I can't believe it has already been two days since my last post. And it feels like so much has happened - some things that make me so happy and others that just break my heart. However, here are some things that I have learned just in the five days that they have been here:

  1. I never thought I would have more laundry than I had before the boys arrived. I was WRONG. The laundry is never ending LOL
  2. Either I am an AMAZING cook, or the boys just like everything. I am thinking the latter. But, people were right! Teenage boys will eat me out of house and home! 😅
  3. Hunter has already asked if they can come back...
Yesterday I got to spend some more private time with them. Hunter and Hudson were at school so I took the boys to the gym (Thank Goodness for the YMCA!). I think I found José Manuel´s preferred activity - basketball!
He played for almost two hours and even found some guys to play against! Needless to say, he wants to go back. While he was playing, I got to talk with Edwin some more. Even though he is 16 years old, there is still so much child-like hope in him. He asked multiple times if Santa was real and if he would visit! I, of course, said yes and he asked if Santa goes to other countries and I said yes, and he immediately responded "not in the DR". 😭

After some much needed gym time, we came home! Remember how I said that the boys like my cooking? Well, even something as simple as a ham and cheese sandwich is amazing! LOL Edwin liked it so much that he had two!

When I do these kind of things, it reminds me regularly of the so many things that I take for granted - a home, family, love, food, access to activities, and so much more!

While I know that we are doing so much for these kids, somehow, it just seems like I (and my children) are the ones who gain so much more.

I am going to continue asking for help! Some continue to ask how they can help and here are some suggestions -
  1. Send gift cards for different restaurants. I want the boys to try different foods while we are here and it would be great to have some help!
  2. Movie tickets
  3. Financially - if you would like to donate financially (last four of my phone is x2993)
