So much we have done, so little time left...

I can't believe that I have not discussed everything we have been doing over the last week and a half. We have been so blessed to be able to do much and spend so much time together (probably too much LOL). One of the biggest challenges thus far is really trying to find things that we can all do! With ages from 16 down to 3, it can be difficult.

We celebrated Edwin's 16th birthday! The 16th birthday is such a big event in a child's life. Sometimes in the US, it is marked with getting a driver's permit/license. It may be marked by getting a car. It almost always indicates a bit more freedom for the young adult. Although Edwin would not be doing any of the above, I hope that we were able to give him some good memories! We started the day with our traditional family birthday breakfast - pancakes with chocolate chips, sprinkles, syrup and whip cream (you know, nothing but sugar to start the day)!. Edwin was also able spend some of his money from Christmas and do some shopping!
After, we went to Chili's for lunch. All the kids were able to order whatever they want! Edwin and José Manuel both ordered the biggest meal they could get - ribs, sausage, chicken strips, fries and corn! It was a great celebration! The highlight of the meal was our server - Shay. She was absolutely amazing with all the kids and even Edwin said that she is great and she is a great asset to the restaurant. Edwin even wanted a picture with her. After lunch, he was able to open his gift - something he had asked for since the beginning of his trip!
The kids also have had a chance to go sledding and enjoy a local Urban Air! They got out a lot of energy, laughed, played and had fun! I think the best part of it was that we were able to do all of these activities together!

The boys will be leaving to return to the Dominican Republic on January 16. We will be going to Indy for the day (surprise) and seeing the zoo and relaxing in the hotel before the long day of travel on January 17. The total travel time from start to finish will be 19 hours. Please keep these kids in your prayers as they return to the DR.

At this time, I am not sure where this will lead me. So many questions, so few answers. I do know one thing - these kids have a family always. If you have been following and ever want to consider helping in any way, please reach out to me! There are so many options!
